Born in the barrios of Caracas in the late 1990s, changa tuki embodies the raw, inventive energy of Venezuela's electronic scene. The movement brings together several local subgenres—raptor house, hard fusion and street house—where Afro‑Latin rhythms, European trance and ghetto house collide in a frenzied sonic whirl. A symbol of popular expression, changa tuki accompanied dancers in fluorescent outfits, entranced by frenzied beats. A central figure of the movement, Pedro Elias Corro, aka DJ Baba the Raptor, is recognized as the pioneer of raptor house. His explosive style, long obscure outside South America, is now enjoying an international revival. His collaboration with Miami producer Nick León on the track "Xtasis" marked a turning point: this bona fide hi‑NRG bomb lit up clubs from Amsterdam to Kampala and was named track of the year by Resident Advisor, finally cementing the global influence of the changa tuki sound.
