Nero Kane

Under the name Nero Kane, the Milan-based Italian musician has, since the latter half of the 2010s, been shaping a sound world between dark folk, slow psychedelic rock, and ballads with liturgical overtones. Nero Kane’s music is built around stripped-down guitars, stretched tempos, and a haunted vocal delivery, often infused with echoes of American folk and images of desert landscapes, onto which textures akin to slowcore and cold wave are grafted. The project gradually took shape with the album Love In A Dying World (2018), marked by minimal, repetitive writing, before moving toward a more haunted and mystical dimension on Tales of Faith and Lunacy (2020), where collaborations with visual and performance artist Samantha Stella—present on record and on stage—were strengthened. With Of Knowledge and Revelation (2022), Nero Kane continues to explore a dark, contemplative register, blending spiritual motifs, medieval imagery, and psychedelic tension, and has become part of a network of independent venues and festivals dedicated to experimental, folk, and darkwave music in Italy and across Europe.
