Theatre of Hate

Theatre of Hate is a British post-punk band formed in London in 1980 by singer and guitarist Kirk Brandon. With its distinctive blend of dark atmospheres, tribal rhythms and lyrically charged songs, the band quickly became a major reference point on the early-80s alternative scene. After splitting in 1982, Brandon and bassist Stan Stammers continued their musical journey with Spear of Destiny. The band has reformed several times, notably in 1991 for a tour and in 1994 for new recordings. Today Theatre of Hate brings together original members Kirk Brandon, Stan Stammers and John "Boy" Lennard, joined by Adrian Portas and Chris Bell. Following the release of the album "Kinshi", saxophonist Clive Osborne joined the lineup, sustaining the energy and fervour of a group that has attained cult status in the history of British post-punk.
