Jarkko Ahola

Born in Toijala, Finland, in 1977, Jarkko Ahola first became known as the singer, bassist and co-songwriter of Teräsbetoni, a heavy metal band formed in the early 2000s with which he participated in Eurovision 2008. His powerful and expansive voice has also led him into other formats, from hard rock and symphonic metal to melodic rock and more orchestral pop-inspired registers. Before dedicating himself fully to Teräsbetoni, Jarkko Ahola sang on Dreamtale’s Difference in 2005, then joined Northern Kings, a Finnish vocal project that reimagines pop and rock songs in a symphonic aesthetic. Solo, Jarkko Ahola develops a broader parallel career, alternating personal creations, acoustic reinterpretations and Christmas or classical repertoire albums such as Ave Maria – Joulun klassikot in 2012, Suojelusenkeli – Joulun klassikot 2 in 2014, Romanssi in 2016, Mä tuun sun luo in 2018, Metallisydän in 2019 and Joulun rauhaa in 2023. He also leads the group AHOLA, founded in 2011, in a hard rock vein in English, illustrated by Stoneface in 2012 and Tug of War in 2014. Between metal stages, acoustic concerts and projects with orchestras, Jarkko Ahola occupies a singular space in Finnish music, at the crossroads of rock singing, melodic metal and a more lyric approach.
