Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in the early 1990s, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony established themselves in American rap with a highly identifiable formula built on alternating rapid flows, vocal harmonies and sung choruses. The group comprises Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-n-Bone, initially known as B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e, before signing to Ruthless Records after meeting Eazy-E. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony broke through with the EP Creepin on ah Come Up in 1994 and then refined their aesthetic on E. 1999 Eternal in 1995, where Midwest hip-hop, darker G-funk, street narratives and an unusually melodic dimension for rap at the time intersect. Their subsequent discography shows several phases of the collective — The Art of War (1997), BTNHResurrection (2000), Thug World Order (2002), Thug Stories (2006), Strength & Loyalty (2007) and Uni5: The World's Enemy (2010). They also marked the era through collaborations with 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G., while going through varying lineups depending on members' presence, without losing their tight work on layered vocals and syncopated cadences.
