Simon Oslender

Born in Aachen in 1998, Simon Oslender established himself very early on the German scene as an organist on the Hammond, as well as a keyboardist and pianist, in a register that blends jazz, funk, blues, gospel and pop. Trained from childhood, notably on the Hammond organ, he first drew attention in the early 2010s with the duo Twogether, later renamed Oslender & Cardynaals, alongside drummer Jerome Cardynaals. This initial period anchored him in a style already strongly marked by groove, improvisation and a keyboard culture nourished as much by jazz as by popular music. Over the years, Simon Oslender has played with musicians such as Wolfgang Haffner, Bill Evans, Nils Landgren, Randy Brecker or Candy Dulfer, and has appeared with ensembles such as the Metropole Orchestra and the WDR Big Band. A regular member of the Wolfgang Haffner Band from 2018, he developed a flexible, precise and very melodic language, where the organ, the electric piano and the keyboards dialogue in an open jazz-fusion aesthetic. Under his name, Simon Oslender released About Time in 2020, then Peace of Mind in 2022 in a trio with Wolfgang Haffner and Will Lee. In 2025, All That Matters with Steve Gadd and Will Lee was released, followed by On a Roll - Live in the same year.
