El Mató a un Policía Motorizado
Formed in La Plata, Argentina, in 2003, Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado coalesced around Santiago Motorizado and a core that became a quintet. Their songwriting blends indie rock, noise pop, melodic punk, space rock and psychedelic touches. The debut album, Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado, was released in 2004, followed by an EP trilogy—Navidad de reserva (2005), Un millón de euros (2006) and Día de los muertos (2008)—which established a sound of saturated guitars, direct melodic lines and lyrics that are both quotidian and melancholic. From La dinastía Scorpio (2012), with Chatrán Chatrán joining on keyboards, the band broadened its palette without losing its rock grounding. They then issued the EP Violencia (2015) and La síntesis O’Konor (2017), an album that accompanied their move to wider circulation on stages across Latin America and Spain, from Primavera Sound to Vive Latino. This was followed by La otra dimensión (2019), a collection of versions and tracks from the same sessions, and Unas vacaciones raras (2021), conceived as the new soundtrack for the series Okupas. With Súper terror (2023), Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado emphasized a more synthetic, post‑punk strand, also evident in occasional collaborations such as “Espacio vacío” with Carolina Durante.
