Big Dope P

Born in Paris and based in London, Big Dope P has been developing a body of work since the late 2000s at the intersection of ghetto house, footwork, electro, hip‑hop and rap, with a direct, rhythmic writing style designed for the club. Early on active in juke and hybrid music scenes, he co‑founded the label Moveltraxx at 16 — launched in 2007 to help circulate sounds from Chicago, Newark and Detroit across Europe, between footwork, ghetto house and Jersey club. Alongside his label work he has released his own productions on labels such as Ed Banger, Fool’s Gold, Local Action, Ninja Tune and LuckyMe, while building an international DJ career. His trajectory has led to collaborations with artists from both electronic music and rap, including Basement Jaxx, KAYTRANADA, Todd Edwards and Pusha T. In 2021 Big Dope P released the album Mehlish, a long‑form record that extends his taste for stylistic crossovers and collaborations, featuring contributors such as TT The Artist, DJ Slugo, Karlito, DJ Jayhood and Feadz.
