Big Daddy Weave
Formed in Mobile, Alabama around the turn of the 2000s, Big Daddy Weave is part of the North American Christian pop‑rock scene, focusing on worship and personal testimony. The band grew out of meetings at the University of Mobile around singer‑guitarist Mike Weaver and developed a sound that blends melodic guitars, a full rhythm section, keyboards and saxophone, alternating contemplative ballads with more rock‑ and pop‑oriented tracks. Signed to Fervent Records, Big Daddy Weave released albums including One and Only (2002), Fields of Grace (2003), What I Was Made For (2005), Every Time I Breathe (2006), Love Come to Life (2012), Beautiful Offerings (2015) and When the Light Comes (2019), reflecting consistent themes such as grace, human frailty and everyday spiritual experience. Frequently appearing on church tours, worship events and Christian festivals in the United States, the band has undergone several lineup changes; the death of bassist and founding member Jay Weaver in 2022 was a significant loss, but it did not halt their performance and recording activity centered on contemporary Christian music.
