Child of Prague
Between San Francisco, Dublin, Boston, London and County Tipperary, Child of Prague takes shape as a six-piece of multi-instrumentalists operating within a collective dynamic where indie rock, folk-pop, math rock, jazz and Irish traditional music intersect. Child of Prague develops a songwriting approach that blends the energy of rock with more sinuous arrangements, featuring a pronounced use of violin and saxophone alongside a classic band instrumentation, giving the whole a melodic, tense and tradition-rooted colour. The project first made its mark on the live scene in Ireland, with appearances at venues such as Vicar Street, the Workman’s Main Room and the Workman’s Cellar, where its six-piece format allows it to alternate between instrumental density and more stripped-back passages. Moving between Irish heritage, an emo sensibility and contemporary rock construction, Child of Prague occupies a relatively rare ridge, articulating personal lyrics, rhythmic variation and band arrangements without confining itself to a single register.
