Wheobe

Formed in France on January 19, 2019, Wheobe brings together Ivanoé Tissot on guitar, Matthias Joannon on bass, Swann Foucher on vocals and Matthieu Mercky on drums. The project began when the four members met in high school, followed by an improvised three-hour concert played during a demonstration, before shaping into a quartet a few months later. Wheobe operates in an alternative rock vein that explores contrasts — between upfront sequences, dynamic ruptures and denser harmonies — with attention to textures and song construction. Behind an apparently classic lineup, Wheobe develops an approach in which each track seeks a balance between immediate impact and the exploration of new sonic landscapes. Since 2019, Wheobe has been carving out a path within a recent French rock scene that favours tonal oppositions, shifting forms and collectively conceived songwriting.
