Bane

Born in the Worcester, Massachusetts hardcore scene, Bane formed in the mid-1990s around Aaron Dalbec, then tied to Converge, before finding its footing with vocalist Aaron Bedard. The band plays straightforward, collective hardcore punk, fueled by melodic hardcore, with fast songs, shouted choruses and writing centered on solidarity, the scene and community ties. After an initial cycle of EPs, including Forked Tongue in 1996 and Free to Think, Free to Be in 1997, Bane broadens its audience with the compilation Holding This Moment in 1998 and then the album It All Comes Down to This in 1999. The subsequent releases on Equal Vision include Give Blood in 2001, The Note in 2005 and Don't Wait Up in 2014. Over the years, Bane tours extensively in the United States, Europe and Japan, in a circuit that links indie hardcore venues with specialized festivals. The band's trajectory is marked by several rhythm-section changes, while the core formed by Aaron Bedard, Aaron Dalbec and Zach Jordan remains central. After a break in 2016, Bane reappears sporadically in 2021 and then restarts activity from 2023.
