Leire Martinez

Born in Rentería, in the Spanish Basque Country, Leire Martínez established herself in Spanish pop from the late 2000s, with melodic writing and an interpretation linked to a clear pop‑rock register, radio‑friendly and accessible, sometimes traversed by more acoustic arrangements. After a notable appearance on Factor X in 2007, Leire Martínez joined La Oreja de Van Gogh in 2008 as lead singer, taking part in a new phase of the group both on stage and in the studio. With this San Sebastián-based formation, she notably recorded A las cinco en el Astoria in 2008, Cometas por el cielo in 2011, El planeta imaginario in 2016 and Un susurro en la tormenta in 2020, while taking part in long tours in Spain and Latin America. In parallel, Leire Martínez appears on several collaborations in the field of Spanish pop, notably with Sergio Dalma, Beto Cuevas, Maldita Nerea, Diego Martín or David DeMaría. In 2024, her separation from La Oreja de Van Gogh opens a solo trajectory. Leire Martínez then publishes "Mi nombre" in 2025, the first personal title that extends her anchoring in melodic pop focused on voice and text, between direct refrains and intimate tonalities.
