Liv East
Based in East London, Liv East develops a sound that moves between neo-soul, house and R&B, with a marked taste for supple grooves, warm textures and vocals delivered with fluid phrasing. Her trajectory took shape after studying at university in Manchester, where exposure to the local dance scene had a lasting influence on her musical direction. Liv East began releasing music in 2019 on the independent label Root73 in a collaborative setting blending hip-hop and neo-soul, before appearing that same year on house- and disco-oriented productions, notably within the Defected and Glitterbox ecosystem. She then followed with collaborations that placed her at the crossroads of the club and soul scenes, including “I Miss Having Someone To Talk To” with Folamour in 2020 on FHUO, and “Kitchen,” presented as her first solo track. Across her releases, Liv East refines a format in which R&B songwriting converses with danceable rhythms and jazz inflections. In 2023 she released the singles “You Got Me,” “So Badly” and “Love Frequency,” followed by the EP LVE1, which synthesizes this aesthetic. Her path also includes collaborations with Fat Freddy’s Drop, Kid Fonque and Yarni, moving between contemporary soul, electronic music and London’s independent scenes.
