Athzira

Under the name Athzira, Guatemalan producer Suseth Martinez has been developing since 2014 an electronic project located at the intersection of psytrance and the traditional repertoires of Central and South America. Athzira's first tracks appeared from 2017 and laid the foundations for a live act focused on the meeting of psychedelic rhythms, trance textures and musical references tied to indigenous cultures, with an avowed inspiration in Maya heritage. This artistic line continued through collaborative work that took a more pronounced form with the project Athzira and the Travellers, released in 2022, the same year Suseth Martinez also launched the Ik-Tek Records label. In this way, Athzira situates her trajectory within the psytrance scene while maintaining an approach open to aesthetic crossovers. More recently, Athzira released a track on Shamanic Tales Records in collaboration with the French group Trientale, in a piece blending Celtic motifs and Maya references. The name Athzira is also associated with a collective project announced under the title Athzira and the Gems.
