Block of Flats

Formed in Porvoo, Finland in 2013, Block of Flats evolves at the junction of alternative rock and alternative metal, with a sound that blends melodic guitars, modern tension, pop-inspired choruses and electronic touches. The group first made a name for itself with the EP Ashes in 2014, then with several singles released from 2015, before opening a new cycle in 2019 with "Future", at the time of signing with Molar Music. In 2020, Block of Flats released the EP Flashbacks & Memories, where their writing refined a balance between rock energy, contemporary production and a direct format. After moving to Ranka Kustannus in 2022, Block of Flats released several tracks, including "True Friends", "Feels Like", "Black Swan" and "Dead Inside", then their first album, No Hope for the Hopeless, in 2023. The lineup, centered around Jonne Nikkilä on vocals and keyboards, Jesse Kataja on guitar and Ossi Ågren on drums, has also seen bass changes, with Oskar Berg followed by Kauri Koponen. Active on the Finnish rock and metal scene, Block of Flats has played at festivals, notably Lost in Music in Tampere, and has also toured Europe as a supporting act for international bands.
