Art-X

Art-X is developing a personal project in France centered on the melodica, at the crossroads of dub and reggae. A member of the duo Ondubground, he opened this solo outlet in 2014 with the album Toy Story, keeping a supple melodic approach up front and composing pieces that favour warm textures, deep bass and a direct relationship to emotion. Art-X’s trajectory sits within the francophone dub scene and the sound system heritage, with songwriting that remains accessible and danceable while maintaining a distinctly instrumental approach. On stage, Art-X blends sung tracks, melodica lines and live mixing, in a format that extends the aesthetic developed with Ondubground while asserting a more personal identity. From one project to another, he circulates elements drawn from reggae roots, modern dub and a restrained electronic production centred on the breath of his instrument rather than on showy effects.
