Gabriele Poso

Born in Lecce, in the Salento region, in 1978, Gabriele Poso has built a career as a percussionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer between Italy, Puerto Rico and Cuba. Trained in Rome in the late 1990s, he continued his studies in San Juan and attended a masterclass in Havana — a path that has deeply influenced his music, which is centered on Afro-Caribbean percussion and open to house, soul, jazz and Latin rhythms. Poso began to emerge in the early 2000s, notably through his collaboration with Osunlade, before releasing From The Genuine World in 2008 on Yoruba Records. His discography subsequently includes Roots of Soul (2012 on INFRACom!), Invocation (2014) and The Languages Of Tambores (2017). Both in his productions and on stage, Poso favors organic compositions built around groove, percussive textures and a restrained melodic approach. Over the years he has performed in clubs and festivals across Europe and North America, with appearances in London, Paris, Montreal, Toronto, Istanbul and Belgium.
