Lou Hayter
Based in London, Lou Hayter is developing a path at the crossroads of DJing, electronic pop and club music. Initially active as a DJ since late adolescence, she then appeared with New Young Pony Club, a London group associated with the dance-punk and new rave wave of the 2000s, where she played keyboards. In parallel, Lou Hayter builds a more personal solo project, nourished by disco, synth-pop, electro soul, house and 1980s R&B references. Her writing favors clean melodic lines, flexible rhythms and a strong taste for bright synthetic textures. After several singles and collaborations, she released her first album Private Sunshine in 2021, followed by Unfamiliar Skin in 2024. Lou Hayter refines here an aesthetic that links DJ culture and the song format, with tracks thought as much for listening as for the dancefloor. Her activity takes her both in clubs and festivals and in contexts related to fashion and image, while her collaborations include notably Jean-Benoît Dunckel of Air and members of Hot Chip. Lou Hayter thus circulates a single language between sophisticated pop, disco heritage and contemporary electronic music.
