GA-20

Formed in Boston in the late 2010s, GA‑20 focuses on a straightforward electric blues rooted in 1950s and ’60s Chicago blues, rhythm and blues, and early rock’n’roll. The band centers on guitarist Matthew Stubbs — who also plays with harmonica great Charlie Musselwhite — and guitarist‑vocalist Pat Faherty, joined by a drummer who completes the tight, bass‑less lineup. GA‑20 crafts a raw, guitar‑centred sound with simple arrangements, often mid‑tempo grooves, and a strong emphasis on riffs and call‑and‑response between voice and instruments. After playing New England club circuits, the trio released its debut album, Lonely Soul, in 2019, establishing GA‑20’s vintage blues tone and minimalist approach. The project continued with GA‑20 Does Hound Dog Taylor: Try It...You Might Like It! in 2021, a tribute to guitarist Hound Dog Taylor’s repertoire, and with Crackdown in 2022, which further refined the blend of shuffles, boogies and slower numbers. GA‑20 has since toured extensively across the US and Europe, mainly in venues and festivals dedicated to blues and roots music, maintaining an identity built on live energy and concise song formats.
