Güner Künier

Based in Germany after a childhood in Turkey, Güner Künier develops a musical world where post‑punk, minimal wave and synth‑wave intersect, nourished by influences from shoegaze, krautrock and riot grrrl. After various experiences in bands during her adolescence, Güner Künier gradually shaped a solo project focused on direct, introspective songwriting, carried by a frequently frontal vocal delivery and a pronounced taste for repetitive basslines and abrasive guitar textures. Her first album, “Aşk,” was released in 2022, followed in 2024 by “Yaramaz” — the title meaning “good‑for‑nothing” in Turkish — which examines tensions between personal emancipation, cultural inheritance and self‑construction in adulthood. Between angular, post‑punk‑adjacent tracks and slower pieces dominated by synth pads and misty atmospheres, Güner Künier navigates in German, English and Turkish and positions herself within a European independent scene attentive to hybridizations between alternative music, cold aesthetics and reworked 80s references.
