Manuka Honey

Based in London, DJ and producer Manuka Honey, whose real name is Marissa Malik, develops a club-oriented approach marked by Latin‑Caribbean‑inspired rhythms, dark electronic textures and a pronounced interest in the ritual dimension of music. Active since the latter half of the 2010s, she first gained attention with sets broadcast on NTS and later through residencies on Rinse FM and BBC Radio 1, where she weaves reggaeton, perreo, dembow, dancehall, techno, bass music and more abstract experiments into a single continuum. Her discography notably includes the EP “3Eternities Beneath You” (2024), featuring collaborations with La Favi, Safety Trance and Florentino, and extending a practice that blends filtered vocals, syncopated percussion and tension‑laden atmospheres. Alongside her productions, Manuka Honey develops the performative project “Desenterrada del fuego”, conceived as an exploration of diasporic memory and Latin American spiritualities through the lens of the club. Highly present on European and North American scenes, she performs both in clubs and in more experimental artistic contexts. In London she co‑organizes the SUZIO night, a platform dedicated to hybrid Latin musics and artists from various diasporas; this initiative resulted in the film “EROS”, released in 2024, which documents part of that ecosystem.
