Carlton Rara

Born in Lourdes to a Haitian mother and a French father, Carlton Rara grows up in Tarbes in an environment shaped by live performance, before developing a personal musical project at the crossroads of blues, Creole music and Caribbean rhythms. A singer, percussionist and guitarist, Rara builds a writing where French, English and Creole meet, with a sober approach that blends folk, blues and Haitian influences without being confined to a single register. Initially solo, accompanied by his percussion, he evolves his music into a broader form while keeping a central place for the voice and for storytelling. His discography includes notably Peyi Blue (2009) and HOME (2012), two albums that establish the benchmarks of this universe between intimate acoustic moments, Creole pulsation and cross‑cultural song. Carlton Rara also ventured into cinema with the track Do You Love Me, used in the end credits of Agnès Obadia's film Joséphine (2013). Between French rooting and Haitian heritage, Carlton Rara thus traces a singular path, nourished by blues, creolity and a constant attention to the flows between cultures.
