Canblaster

Originally from northern France, producer and DJ Cédric Steffens, known as Canblaster, has developed since the late 2000s a distinctive approach to electronic music that sits between club culture, R&B and the legacy of video game music. Spotted in the circuit of independent labels that specialize in experimental club sounds, he became known for a series of EPs and remixes where house, UK influences, staccato rhythms and strongly melodic harmonies intersect. As a member of the Lille collective Club Cheval alongside Myd, Sam Tiba and Panteros666, he helped shape a group sound that blends pop songwriting, processed vocals and rave energy, while continuing his solo projects oriented toward more complex structures and sometimes cinematic atmospheres. His productions circulate both in clubs and on specialist radio shows, and his DJ sets play with frequent tempo changes, a taste for contrasts between airy pads and sharply cut percussion, and a constant back-and-forth between vocal and instrumental tracks. More recently, the Liberosis Act I, II and III release series marks a new phase in his work, with an increased emphasis on musical narration and continuity between tracks.
