Kevin Richard Martin

Born in the United Kingdom and having moved from Weymouth to London around the turn of the 1990s, Kevin Richard Martin has, for more than three decades, built a career straddling dub, industrial music, hip‑hop, dancehall, dubstep and noise experimentation. Under his own name and the alias The Bug, he works with dense sonic material centered on bass, syncopated rhythms and abrasive textures, drawing on post‑punk, soundsystem culture and British electronic scenes. His trajectory includes notable projects such as GOD in the early 1990s, Techno Animal and Ice with Justin Broadrick, King Midas Sound with Roger Robinson and Kiki Hitomi, and Zonal. The Bug's discography includes Tapping The Conversation (1997), Pressure (2003), London Zoo (2008), Angels & Devils (2014), Fire (2021) and Machine (2024); under his own name he released Sirens (2019) and Return to Solaris (2021). Now based in continental Europe, Kevin Richard Martin moves between clubs, experimental festivals and contexts closer to performance, maintaining a transversal practice where MCs, spoken word, atmospheric dub and a frontal rhythmic drive intersect.
