Zakk Sabbath
Led by American guitarist and singer Zakk Wylde, Zakk Sabbath revisits Black Sabbath's repertoire through a heavy metal power trio rooted in the North American scene. Formed in the mid-2010s in the United States, Zakk Sabbath focuses on the Birmingham band's early albums, emphasizing the hard rock, doom, and blues roots of these compositions. Around Zakk Wylde, the group has, at various times, brought together different bassists and drummers from renowned metal outfits, which places Zakk Sabbath within a network of musicians accustomed to major tours and international festivals. Initially conceived as a largely live project, the band has multiplied club and festival shows, with sets centered on 1970s material. A first covers release appeared in the mid-2010s, followed by the album "Vertigo" in 2020, which performs the first Black Sabbath album in full, in the original order and spirit. Zakk Sabbath's sound relies on massive riffs, a gritty vocal delivery, often slowed-down tempos, and a very live approach to arrangements, aiming to distill the energy of classic heavy metal into a direct, unadorned format.
