Deep Forest

Launched in France in 1992 by the duo Éric Mouquet and Michel Sanchez, Deep Forest creates music at the crossroads of electronic, ambient, new age and world music, blending downtempo rhythms, synthetic soundscapes and voices or traditional motifs from various cultural areas. The first album, Deep Forest, released in 1992, immediately established this aesthetic with tracks such as “Sweet Lullaby”. Boheme (1995) then broadened the scope toward Eastern Europe and included “While the Earth Sleeps” with Peter Gabriel. Comparsa followed in 1997 with a more Latin American orientation, before Music Detected appeared in 2002, on which Deep Forest notably worked with Anggun. After Michel Sanchez left in 2005, Éric Mouquet continued the project alone, evolving its form across records like Deep Brasil (2008), Deep India with Rahul Sharma (2013), Deep Africa (2013), and Evo Devo (2015). Deep Forest has since alternated collaborations and reworkings of its repertoire with releases such as Epic Circuits (2018) alongside Gaudi, Deep Symphonic (2020), Eponymous (2021), Burning (2023) and Crystal Clear (2024) with Olivier Delevingne.
