The Sukis
Based in Liverpool, The Sukis operate in an indie rock and alternative rock register, nourished by tense guitars, direct melodies and songwriting focused on the uncertainties of youth. The band began releasing music in 2020, during the lockdown period, and quickly built a sound that blends the British indie rock heritage, a light post-punk tension, and melodic touches drawn from pop rock. The Sukis circulated their early tracks in the early 2020s, before the release of the Becca EP in 2021, then A Sense of Doubt in 2023, two milestones showing an evolution toward songs more assertive in their contrasts, between rhythmic urgency, catchy choruses and more introspective atmospheres. Part of the northwest England emerging scene, The Sukis also shared the bill with several bands of the same generation such as Crawlers, Red Rum Club, Maruja, Pixey or Corella, which places their trajectory in a well-established indie- and alternative-live circuit. Through these releases and live activity, The Sukis inscribe themselves in a current British vein where the effectiveness of rock formats remains central, without losing a taste for more oblique arrangements and a front-facing band energy.
