Taba Chake
Born in the village of Khunglo in Arunachal Pradesh, Taba Chake first developed his relationship with music in local bands before launching an independent solo career in 2012. A singer, songwriter and guitarist from the Nyishi community, Taba Chake crafts an acoustic songwriting approach centered on fingerstyle, at the crossroads of indie folk, acoustic pop and a light folk-country, with songs in Nyishi, Hindi, Assamese and English. This multilingual aspect runs through his entire artistic identity, with tracks that blend intimate storytelling, restrained melodies and pared-down arrangements. After the EP Bond With Nature in 2016, he released the album Bombay Dreams in 2019, which helped spread songs like Aao Chalein, Shaayad and Walk With Me to a wider audience. He followed with singles such as Blush in 2020 and expanded into Indian cinema with Aye Mere Dil for Kadak Singh in 2023, then the soundtrack for I Want to Talk in 2024. Taba Chake has also performed at stages like Ziro Festival of Music and NH7 Weekender, in a register where regional roots meet contemporary folk songwriting.
