The Barr Brothers bring the Let It Hiss Tour to Montréal on March 1, 2026 at MTELUS, 59 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est, H2X 3P5 Montréal, Canada. Led by brothers Brad and Andrew Barr, the band has built a folk and indie vocabulary shaped by inventive guitar work, subtle percussion and a patient sense of exploration. Their self-titled debut (2011) sketched a dreamy folk-blues outline, Sleeping Operator (2014) widened the frame with pulsing rhythms and atmospheric arrangements, and Queens of the Breakers (2017) leaned into melody and open space. On stage, the group favors craft, interplay and songs that unfold with quiet intensity.
Land Of Talk, the project of singer-guitarist Elizabeth Powell, shares the bill. Based in Montréal since the mid-2000s, the band balances angular indie guitars with more vaporous, shoegaze-tinged passages, guided by Powell’s clear, cutting voice. From Applause Cheer Boo Hiss (2006) to Some Are Lakes (2008, with a contribution from Justin Vernon), then Cloak and Cipher (2010), the path led to a pause and a renewed sound on Life After Youth (2017) and Indistinct Conversations (2020). With a flexible lineup and links to the Broken Social Scene orbit, Land Of Talk keeps the focus on guitar-led songs that navigate between edge and introspection.
