On May 15, 2027 at La Laiterie in Strasbourg, Groundation returns with "Tribute to Bob Marley", a rare performance where the group pays homage to the repertoire and the message of the King of Reggae. Born in the late 1990s around Harrison Stafford, the California-based collective has carved out a distinctive place with a roots reggae infused with jazz harmonies, long instrumental crescendos, generous brass, and improvisations that shift the trajectory of the songs from night to night.
Here, the idea is not to replay Marley note for note, but to bring his titles to life, from the most well-known to the deepest, by letting them dialogue with Groundation's signature style: carefully crafted arrangements, dub tensions, more intimate passages, then full-band eruptions. A tribute also designed to recall the role of the Wailers and the collective invention behind this sound. A way to reconnect a 1970s heritage with the present era, without freezing it.
