Caroline Henderson Duo

Experience Caroline Henderson in the company of pianist Nikolaj Hess as she, in spring 2027, performs a series of duo concerts at Portalen. Caroline Henderson and Nikolaj Hess have collaborated on several projects across both live performances and releases. Together they have played to full concert halls, just as they year after year fill the church space with music for Caroline Henderson's Christmas concerts.

About their upcoming duo performances, Caroline Henderson says: "I look forward to once again playing in a duo and getting a little closer to the audience. More on eye level. More presence. More freedom. Being allowed to perform in a duo with Nikolaj Hess is a gift. We look forward to plucking pearls from my repertoire, finding new songs and rediscovering old ones. And not quite knowing in advance where the concert will end. For that is part of what I love about the duo format: the possibility for the setlist to change from concert to concert. To feel the room, the audience and the mood on that particular evening and let it contribute to determining what we play. When one dares to let go a little of the control and listen to each other and to those sitting in the room. To me, in the end it’s about reaching the heart of music. To presence, spontaneity and the simple meeting between people through music. I hope to see you."

Over the years, Caroline Henderson has established herself as a singer in contemporary Danish music history, with a musical expression drawing inspiration from jazz, blues, pop and electronic tones. Most recently she released the album Nectar and Ambrosia in 2025, and in 2026 she is set to present her musical one-woman show My Life as Her. Her résumé spans everything from singer to actress on both theatre stages and in television series, both domestically and internationally.

Nikolaj Hess is a pianist, composer and jazz musician. With roots in jazz, classical music and Scandinavian folk music, he has created a distinctive musical language that moves between Nordic jazz, post-bop, neo-classical music and global musical traditions.
