[SUR INVITATION/DESIGN] Paris > Kyoto > Paris. Quatre designers de retour du Japon

On the occasion of Paris Design Week, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs highlights four designers who stayed in Japan at Villa Kujoyama—Nina Fradet, Tony Jouanneau, Felipe Ribon, and Marion Vidal—in an exhibition route spanning its permanent galleries. From 10 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, around twenty works and installations conceived following their residency in Kyoto reveal their sensitive and singular vision of Japan. Between art, science and design, these hybrid works explore new languages, combining precision of gesture with creative freedom. They forge a fertile relation with Japanese craftsmanship and an innovative approach to expression, in resonance with the museum's collections and spaces. The exhibition is curated by Juliette Pollet, heritage conservator in charge of the modern and contemporary collections from 1960 to the present, and by Julia Balduini and Marianne Brabant, conservation attachés. The exhibition 'Paris > Kyoto > Paris. Four designers returning from Japan' is part of the 'By Invitation / Design' program, initiated in 2025 by the museum. This exhibition is developed in collaboration with Villa Kujoyama, an arts institution within the cultural cooperation network of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Under the Institut Français in Japan, it operates in coordination with the Institut Français and benefits from the support of the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation.
