If there is one thing that defines Thylacine, it is his ability to bend electronics to the precision of his gesture. Behind this name, William Rezé has, since the early 2010s, crafted a music at the crossroads of melodic techno, ambient and downtempo, driven by elongated loops, slow progressions, and highly cinematic textures. Trained as a saxophonist, with a background in jazz and classical music, he preserves this sense of harmony and motif in compositions that take time to establish an atmosphere.
His discography has often unfolded in motion, like a sonic travelogue: Transsiberian, conceived aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway from sounds captured on site, followed by Roads Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, which extend this itinerant principle. More recently, Timeless has seen him revisit Debussy, Satie, or Beethoven in a pared-down electronic language. On March 22, 2027, at La Belle Electrique in Grenoble, Thylacine will present an immersive live set where his tracks are accompanied by footage shot along his travels, for a performance conceived as a journey.
