If you’ve followed UK indie since the early 2000s, you know The Coral have always sat in that sweet spot where psychedelic rock, jangle pop and Merseybeat hooks meet something hazier and more folk-leaning. Formed in 1996 on the Wirral peninsula, the band built its sound on bright guitars, sideways melodies and a slightly dreamy way of writing songs that never tries to be too clean.
Over the years, they’ve shifted gears without losing their identity: from the early rush of The Coral and the more melodic Magic and Medicine, to darker, leaner corners on records like The Invisible Invasion, then back out into wider, more detailed worlds with Coral Island and its follow-ups. Expect a set that moves through that whole catalogue, with room for the band’s cinematic, coastal imagination to do its thing live.
