The Soul Town Festival brings together, on April 10, 2027 at The O2 in London, a fine lineup of acts that have carried soul, funk and disco from the studio to the stage. On the program: repertoires built on tight vocal harmonies, brassy punch, and choruses crafted for the dancefloor, spanning from the golden seventies era to the more pop-leaning twists of the eighties. Boney M. arrives with its West Berlin-born euro-disco, blending pop with reggae touches, propelled by hits that have become classics ("Daddy Cool", "Rivers of Babylon"). Kool and The Gang, formed in New Jersey, unfold old-school funk and more chant-driven R&B ("Ladies' Night", "Celebrate!"), always guided by a highly physical rhythm section. Sister Sledge foregrounds Philly soul that became disco chic in the Nile Rodgers era ("We Are Family", "He's the Greatest Dancer"), while The Drifters recall the doo-wop side and orchestrated soul ("Save the Last Dance for Me", "Under the Boardwalk"). Shalamar brings the Soul Train energy, between tight harmonies and club groove; The Real Thing defends British soul with blistering choruses, and Heatwave bridges London and the United States with its sensual grooves ("Boogie Nights", "Always and Forever"). Kenny Thomas completes the lineup with a more contemporary UK soul, blending R&B and pop-funk, centered on the voice.
