Info
On 13 December 2026, Hugues Aufray will bring his Escapada! to the Metz Congrès Robert Schuman in Metz. An author and performer who first appeared in the cabarets of the 1950s, he established himself on the cusp of the sixties and opened a genuine dialogue between French chanson and American folk. His encounter with the work of Bob Dylan became a major landmark in his career, with Aufray chante Dylan (1965) anchoring his adaptations in the Francophone musical landscape.
The story continues to be written on stage and in the studio, through a series of albums that punctuate a long-running career: Hugues Aufray (1964), Le Cœur gros (1971), Transatlantic (1977), then Atlantique (1988) and Hugues (1994), before returning in the 2000s with New Yorker (2009) and Troubador Since 1948 (2011). These projects have nourished a wide repertoire that he likes to revisit, blending original compositions, reinterpretations and collaborations.
On stage today, voice, guitars and the art of storytelling shape a concise set focused on his signature songs, a few numbers borrowed from Dylan and more recent pieces. Escapada! highlights the mix of folk, ballad and understated swing that is his hallmark, presented in a simple, direct format designed for intimacy and attentive listening.
