Kings of Convenience

Kings of Convenience bring their quiet craft to Bristol Beacon in Bristol on 22 May 2027. Formed in Bergen, the duo of Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe has spent years refining an acoustic language built on close-knit harmonies, nylon-string guitars and unhurried tempos. From Quiet Is the New Loud and its companion Versus to Riot on an Empty Street, Declaration of Dependence and the more recent Peace or Love, their catalogue leans into folk minimalism and soft-pop melody, with arrangements that leave space for detail and a calm sense of timing.

On stage, the setup often pares things back to two chairs, two guitars and two voices that interlace with precision. Songs from across their albums resurface in understated reworks, with subtle dynamic shifts, careful fingerpicking and the kind of hushed interplay that lets the writing stay front and center. Echoes of Øye’s projects like The Whitest Boy Alive and Bøe’s work with Kommode surface in gentle rhythmic inflections, but the core remains intimate and measured.
