On March 14, 2027, Nouvelle Vague bring their new chapter “A Date with Depeche Mode” to Trinity Centre in Bristol. Founded in 2003 by Marc Collin and the late Olivier Libaux, the Paris-born project has built its signature on flipping punk, new wave and post‑punk classics into bossa nova, acoustic pop and lounge-lit grooves, always carried by a rotating cast of voices.
This time, they focus on a single catalogue for the first time: Depeche Mode. Thirteen key tracks get rebuilt from the ground up, recorded in Rio with Brazilian musicians to spark a back-and-forth between Brazil’s rhythmic warmth and Depeche Mode’s darker pop architecture, filtered through Nouvelle Vague’s soft-touch arrangements.
A taste of that approach comes through on their take on “Enjoy the Silence”, imagined as a duet with Skye Edwards (Morcheeba) and Larry Love (Alabama 3): two distinct tones meeting in one pared-back, sunlit reinterpretation.
