Phantogram

Phantogram land at O2 Academy Birmingham on 4 July 2026. The New York duo of Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter shape a tight blend of electronic pop, indie rock and trip-hop influences. Since Eyelid Movies, they’ve built songs on hip-hop-leaning beats, textured guitars and dense synth layers, with Barthel’s voice cutting through and Carter’s lines and samples adding grit and contrast. Voices opened up the palette without losing focus, Three pushed into darker zones, and Ceremony kept that balance of immediacy and abrasion in sharp relief.

On stage, the pair lean into rhythm and atmosphere, stacking loops, pads and riffs until the grooves bite, then stripping back to leave space for melody. The push-pull between luminous hooks and shadowy undertones drives their live set, switching gears from hazy slow-burners to tracks that hit straight on. Their detour with Big Grams alongside Big Boi sharpened their sense of dynamics and low-end weight, and it shows in a show built for impact while keeping the writing front and center.
