The Savage Rose

The Savage Rose brings its singular take on Danish psychedelic rock to Bellevue Teatret in Klampenborg, Denmark, on 29 August 2026. Formed in Copenhagen in 1967, the band has always revolved around the voice of Annisette, a presence that threads through decades of shifts and experiments. Early on, the group carved out an organ-driven sound that blends psych and progressive rock with folk tones, flashes of classical music and Balkan echoes. Albums like The Savage Rose and In the Plain set the tone, followed by Travelin’ and Your Daily Gift, and a taste for concept works, including the score for the Royal Danish Ballet’s Dødens Triumf.

Reactivated in the mid-90s, the band leaned into a more stripped-back rock feel, stirred by gospel and soul. Records such as Black Angel, Tameless, Love and Freedom, Roots of the Wasteland and Homeless expanded a catalogue built on social poetry, ballads with acoustic textures and rhythmic pulses. On stage, expect contrasts rather than excess: narrative songs, organ swells, tight percussion and space for Annisette’s delivery to lead the way, connecting the group’s first psych sparks to its later, warmer hues.
