On March 27, 2026 at L’Antirouille, Montpellier, Thy Catafalque leads the charge. Born in the late 1990s, the project of Hungarian Tamás Kátai has veered from original black metal into experimental territory where progressive structures, Magyar folklore and expansive synths intersect. On stage, the ensemble assembled around Kátai plays on contrasts: saturated guitars, atmospheric passages, guest vocals and lyrics in Hungarian. Records such as Rengeteg, Meta, Naiv and Vadak have shaped this singular identity, long confined to the studio and now infrequent but precise in live performance.
Bong-Ra, the alias of Dutch producer Jason Köhnen, brings the extreme electronic side. A figure in breakcore, he combines fractured rhythms, a legacy of jungle and gabber, and an imagination nourished by metal. From his early albums to the shift initiated with Monolith and then Antediluvian, his set navigates between percussive power and slowed tempos close to doom, with a strong emphasis on low-end textures and dark atmospheres.
Toward The Throne completes the bill on the blackened atmospheric death metal side. Formed in 2012, the band develops a style built on massive riffs, tense melodies and contemplative pauses. Their debut album Vowed to Decline laid the foundations for a contrasted sound—between rhythmic violence and melancholy—that the band now extends on stage with immersive, direct songwriting.
