On November 20, 2026, The Stylistics bring their Philadelphia soul signature to Fairfield Halls in Croydon. Born in Philly in 1968 and built around that instantly recognizable blend of orchestrated soul, smooth R&B and vocal pop, the group’s sound took shape in the early 70s with Russell Thompkins Jr.’s high falsetto at the front and the elegant arrangements associated with producer Thom Bell and lyricist Linda Creed.
Live, the set naturally leans on the era that made their identity: songs like “Stop, Look, Listen”, “You Are Everything”, “Betcha by Golly, Wow”, “People Make the World Go Round” or “You Make Me Feel Brand New”, where harmonies sit on lush strings and tight grooves. Over time, their approach opened up to a lighter, late-70s pop-soul and even disco-tinged colors, while keeping that smooth vocal chemistry. Today the band continues around founding members Airrion Love and Herb Murrell, carrying the catalogue with the same focus on melody and close-knit harmonies.
