Info
Big Country rolled out of Dunfermline in 1981 with Stuart Adamson, Bruce Watson, Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki shaping a lean, melodic rock that nodded to Scottish traditions. Their twin guitars often mimic pipes and fiddles without leaving the rock frame, a signature that runs through The Crossing (1983), Steeltown (1984), The Seer (1986) and Peace in Our Time (1988). The 90s brought more direct writing with No Place Like Home, Why the Long Face and Driving to Damascus, before a return to the stage in the late 2000s and the album The Journey (2013). On stage, the dialogue between riffs and rhythms keeps that mix of tension and uplift at the center.
Formed in Rhyl in 1981 after early incarnations as The Toilets and Seventeen, The Alarm cut a path between post‑punk bite and new wave hooks. Built around the acoustic/electric push‑and‑pull, they broke out with The Stand, Blaze of Glory, Sixty Eight Guns and Spirit of ’76, after early support slots for U2 and later Bob Dylan. Declaration (1984), Strength (1985), Eye of the Hurricane (1987), Change (1989) and Raw (1991) marked their first run, followed by a relaunch from the late 90s and a steady flow of records up to Music Television (2024).
Big Country and The Alarm share the stage at O2 Academy Leicester on 29 November 2026.
