Info
Formed near Liverpool at the end of the 70s, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark shaped a synth-pop that balances direct melodies with darker electronic textures. Led by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, the duo moved from the crisp minimalism of their self‑titled debut and Organisation to the more atmospheric writing of Architecture & Morality. With Dazzle Ships and Junk Culture they explored collage, dance‑leaning rhythms and brass, then pivoted toward a cleaner electronic pop on Crush and The Pacific Age. After a long pause, the original core returned to the studio and stage, extending their palette across History of Modern, English Electric, The Punishment of Luxury and, most recently, Bauhaus Staircase.
On 30 July 2026 at Kelvingrove Bandstand in Glasgow, OMD bring that journey to the open air with an expanded live setup. The set draws lines between sparse early sequences and contemporary production, carried by McCluskey’s voice and Humphreys’ keyboards. Expect a flow that bridges industrial tinges, classic pop structures and slower electronic ballads, tracing four decades of writing from the band’s origins to their latest work, all built around the interplay of synth lines, pulsing rhythm and melodies made for a summer amphitheatre.
