Info
On November 2, 2026, at Blue Note London, the Richard Bona Trio brings to the stage a set built around Bona’s signature blend: jazz at the core, but constantly slipping into African grooves, fusion, blues, and song-like melodies. Born in Minta, Cameroon, he first played balafon before switching to bass in Douala, and you can still hear that percussive instinct in the way his lines dance and push the rhythm forward.
As a bassist and singer, Bona likes to keep things moving: bright, melodic phrases, tight interplay, and compositions that travel between Cameroon, Europe, the Americas, and Brazil without turning into a stylistic exercise. The trio format makes it even more direct: more space, more conversation, and a focus on the groove and the voice, with the kind of club energy that fits this room perfectly.
