On January 29, 2027, at London’s Union Chapel, The Fabulous Thunderbirds will remind us why their name remains a benchmark when it comes to electric American blues that hits hard. Led by Kim Wilson, a singer and harmonica player with a rough edge, the band blends Chicago blues, Texas shuffle, R&B and rock ’n’ roll into a compact sound built for the stage. From beginnings in Austin in the mid-70s to the more direct turn of the Tuff Enuff era, their trajectory has always rested on the same formula: a tight rhythm section, biting guitars, and harmonica at the forefront. Today, Wilson still leads and keeps this repertoire alive, oscillating between classics and live energy.
In the opener, Nine Below Zero offer an acoustic set, a leaner but no less nerve-wracking version of their British rhythm and blues. Led by Dennis Greaves, the band comes from London's pub-rock scene and preserves that immediate groove, between blues rock and soul, with tight guitar work and songs that go straight to the point.
