Paul Weller plays The Piece Hall in Halifax on 14 June 2026. From The Jam’s taut, socially aware songs at the end of the 70s, through The Style Council’s mix of pop sophistication, soul, jazz and early house, to a solo run that blends rock, folk, rhythm and blues and soul, he has kept moving while holding onto clear, melodic writing. On stage he often threads these periods together: brisk, mod-leaning riffs from the early years, keys-led grooves from the Council era, and the grounded, reflective tracks of his solo catalogue, from Wild Wood and Stanley Road to 22 Dreams, On Sunset and 66. The set draws on a catalogue shaped by British pop and soul, carried by a grainy voice, concise hooks and a band that shifts easily between tight punch and slower sway. Collaborations and kinships have marked the journey, from Bruce Foxton to Noel Gallagher and Terry Callier, and that sense of continuity feeds into the live show: songs that travel across eras without losing their edge, arranged with economy and a focus on pulse and melody.
