On 20 November 2026 at The 1865 in Southampton, The Undertones celebrate 50 years of fast, melodic songwriting. Formed in Derry in the mid-70s, the band fused punk immediacy with pop-minded hooks, crafting short, straight-to-the-point songs about adolescence, everyday life and tangled relationships. Their path runs from the self-titled debut (1979) and Hypnotised (1980) to the more elaborated shapes of Positive Touch (1981) and The Sin of Pride (1983), before a pause and a return in the late 90s with Paul McLoone on vocals alongside the original members. Since then, they’ve kept moving with Get What You Need (2003) and Dig Yourself Deep (2007), staying close to buzzing guitars, tight riffs and punchy choruses.
Special guest Ruts DC completes the lineup for this anniversary night in Southampton.
