Info
Deacon Blue headline The Piece Hall in Halifax on 9 July 2026, bringing decades of sharp, melodic songwriting back to the stage. Formed in Glasgow in the late 80s around singer and songwriter Ricky Ross with Lorraine McIntosh, the band shaped a pop-rock sound laced with soul and storytelling, first revealed on their debut Raintown. Their catalogue has since grown into a run of singles and albums that map out a whole slice of British pop history: Dignity, Real Gone Kid, Wages Day and Fergus Sings the Blues alongside later releases that kept the writing lean and the melodies upfront.
On stage, the group reconnects those early anthems with newer chapters from albums like The Hipsters, A New House, Believers and City of Love. Keyboards, guitars and harmonies carry the songs with the clarity that has always defined them, balancing bite and warmth without fuss. It’s a show built for singing along and for hearing these tracks with the lift of a live band, in a setting that suits the scale and the detail of their music. Halifax gets a thorough tour of the band’s songbook, from first breakthroughs to recent favourites, all anchored by that Glasgow core.
